PHYTOBARRE PROJET CAME TO ITS END …

Daniel Garcia, Camille Escoffier and their team have developed a unique consortium of bacteria able to decontaminate effluents (toxic liquid wastes), in particular crop protection products from agriculture.
Adequabio is a start-up which produces innovative products, as its first product on the market: Phytobarre. This system uses the unique consortium of photosynthetic bacteria that Adequabio team developped to treat phytosanitary effluents produced by agricultural treatments and operating tanks .
Adequabio’s mission is to provide a solution to farmers’ problems by integrating the environment and the health of consumers into our motivations.
Doctor in Biology and Microbiology, he is a researcher specialized in the study of photosynthetic bacteria at the CEA since the 1990s. He has participated in several applied research projects, national and international, including the European Life-Phytobarre project of which he was the coordinator . Expert at the Water division, he is the President of Adequabio.
He graduated with a Master's Degree in Biotechnology. He first worked as a research scientist at Librophyt and then as a research engineer at the CEA, before joining the Life-Phytobarre project team as project manager in 2014. He is now CEO of Adequabio.
Tanks and vehicles pass through a washing station that collects polluted water, which is then
stored in ponds.
The water in the basins evaporates naturally and the remaining volume is treated by a selection of
bacteria grouped into a unique combination, resulting from more than 25 years of experience.
The results of the European LIFE-Phytobarre project between 2013 and 2017 showed that almost
100% of the active substances detected disappeared at the end of the season without any liquid
discharge into the environment.
Phytobarre is the only system on the market to use both evaporation and bacterial degradation in
liquid medium to treat phytosanitary effluents.
Our team of researchers is constantly working on optimizing the system.
Phytobarre requires no maintenance or additional work. Just add a dose of Adequabio bacteria in the treatment tanks at the beginning of the season, that’s all!
The Phytobarre process adapts to all effluent volumes and treats all types of phytos. To meet the specific needs of each farm, our solution is completely tailor-made.
